Restoring a collectable car takes serious preparation and often depends on the nature of the individual collector.

Some people buy older generation cars to try and restore them to their original look with no real interest in driving them, whereas some people choose to focus on the look and quality in order to take out car insurance covering classic vehicles and get it on the road as if it were brand new.

There’s no official stance on how you should restore a classic vehicle – whether you use modern car equipment to totally revamp it or if you stick to the original but your insurance cover should definitely fall in line with the age of the vehicle and reflect how much work it’s had done to it. Buzz Insurance can help with the more complicated car insurance policies and are happy to advise you on your options and how best to approach getting your classic car fully insured and on the road.

One piece of advice to remember with classic car restoration is the engine and the actual working mechanics of the car. Many people get caught up in the look of the car and can easily overlook the safety elements. Avoid having to make a claim on your car insurance by looking after all aspects of your vehicle restoration project.
