Your Duty Of Disclosure

What you must tell us

When answering our questions, please be honest as you have a duty under the law to tell us anything you know or should know, that is relevant to our decision to insure you or anyone else under your policy, and on what terms.

This includes answers to questions we ask when you apply for a policy, renew, or alter your policy, and any other matters which might affect whether we insure you and on what terms.

We use the information you give us to decide whether to insure you, or anyone else, so it's important you understand that you’re answering our questions in this way for yourself and for anyone else who you want us to cover.

What you don't need to tell us

You do not need to tell us anything that:

• reduces the chances of you making a claim under the policy
• we know, or should know, because it is common knowledge or as part of our business
• we tell you not to tell us

If you don't tell us

If you don’t answer our questions in this way your claim could be reduced or refused. We may even cancel the policy. If you answer our questions dishonestly or you fraudulently fail to tell us something, your claim may be refused and we may treat the policy as never having existed.
